Medicare

While you don’t technically need a referral to see a psychologist, we do ask that you get one from your GP. Having your GP involved means we can communicate with them and help connect you with other services or supports if you ever need them.

And since you’re heading to the GP for a referral anyway, you may as well ask about a Mental Health Care Plan (MHCP) while you’re there. This is separate from your referral and, if you’re eligible, allows you to claim a Medicare rebate for up to 10 psychology sessions per calendar year.

Once you’ve used your 10 Medicare-rebated sessions, you’re still very welcome to keep coming. You can simply continue as a private client, or you may be able to claim part of the cost through private health insurance, depending on your cover.

First Appointment

$292 for 50 minute session*this appointment must be held in clinic.

$101.55 Medicare rebate (accessed through MHCP).

This leaves an out of pocket cost of $190.45.

All subsequent appointments

$251 per 50 minute Session *fee is the same regardless of session location.

This leaves an out of pocket cost of $149.45.
