OUR SERVICES
At Wavelength, you don’t have to choose just one way of doing therapy. You’re welcome to mix and match between in-clinic, Sunrise and Blue Space sessions depending on what feels right for you that day, where you’re at in your therapy, or simply what you feel like. You might prefer the privacy and familiarity of the clinic for some sessions, head outdoors when you’d like to walk and talk, or choose a Sunrise Session when you want to start the day with movement and time outside. There’s no commitment to one format, therapy can be flexible and change with you. All initial appointments are held either in-clinic or via telehealth, giving us a private space to get to know each other, discuss what brings you to therapy and make sure outdoor sessions are appropriate for you. After that, you’re free to choose the session style that suits you each time you book.
IN ROOM
Sometimes, it’s nice to have a quiet, comfortable space where you can simply sit down and talk. In-clinic sessions offer a private and welcoming environment where you can slow down, settle in and focus on yourself without the distractions of the outside world. They can be particularly helpful when you’re working through something difficult, want a little more privacy, or simply feel like being somewhere warm and comfortable that day. Being in the clinic also gives us plenty of flexibility to use different therapeutic approaches, resources and activities as part of your session. And sometimes, you might just prefer a comfy couch and a cup of tea, and that’s completely okay too.
BLUE SPACE
There’s a reason being near the water can feel good. A growing body of research is looking at the effect blue spaces (natural environments like oceans, rivers and lakes) can have on our brains and bodies. Spending time around water has been linked with lower stress, better mental wellbeing and psychological restoration, giving our attention and stress systems a chance to recover from the constant demands of everyday life. At Wavelength, we combine those benefits with movement. Walking gives the body a gentle, repetitive left-right rhythm. It’s not the same as the structured bilateral stimulation we use in therapies like EMDR, but there are some interesting similarities in the way rhythmic movement, attention and the nervous system work together. There’s also good evidence that movement itself can support mood, stress regulation and clearer thinking. Blue Space sessions aren’t about replacing therapy with a nice walk on the beach. You’re still getting evidence-based psychological therapy. We’re just taking it outside, adding movement, and letting the environment do some of the heavy lifting too.

SUNRISE
Morning light is one of the strongest environmental signals for regulating the body’s circadian rhythm, the internal clock that influences sleep, alertness, mood and energy. Exposure to natural light early in the day helps synchronise this rhythm, supporting healthy melatonin timing at night and greater daytime alertness. Pairing morning light with gentle walking adds the psychological benefits of physical activity, including reductions in stress and anxiety and improvements in mood and cognitive functioning. Taking therapy outdoors can also change the experience of the conversation itself. Walking side by side removes the expectation of constant eye contact and can make difficult or vulnerable conversations feel less intense than sitting face to face in a traditional therapy room. The combination of movement, natural surroundings and a less formal environment may help some people feel more comfortable talking, reflecting and regulating their emotions while exploring challenging material.
